Happy Father's Day!

Here's the card I made for Father's Day. I have been wanting to try this "quilt" card for sometime. I had to use some retired DSP,because all of my current paper is "girly." Any-who...this was super easy to make. I used my 1 1/4" square punch and glued a bunch of squares together on a piece of card stock. Then I used my Big Shot with my Top Note Die to cut out the quilt piece. I also used my handy-dandy Big Shot for the "F."  How did I ever manage without my Big Shot?! *wink*

 

Now, this next project is not stamping related and I am pretty much cheating at this point, but I made this super,fun cake. Why am I cheating you ask? Well, this picture is (obviously) just of the box that the cake pans came in. He,he. I really did make the cake, and the top and bottom pieces came out GREAT! I just haven't finished it yet. I am doing that tomorrow. Instead of the butter-cream frosting (YUM!) in the center, I am going to use Oreo Ice Cream. (Double YUM!) I'll take a picture and if it comes out nicely I'll post it. If not, well....you get the idea.

"A Note for You"

Here is today's gift for Teacher Appreciation Week. It's super cute and easy to make, but also very useful. I love to make cute, fun things, but I also like them to have a purpose.  I participated in a Big Shot Swap before my trip to Hawaii. Rose Ward made a similar project for her swap and that's where the inspiration came from for this one. Thanks, Rose!

 

All this is, is a junior legal pad and a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. You need stickystrip to adhere the notepad to the card stock. I used the Raspberry Tart DSP and some Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon. Here's the inside:

 

One more fun thing for the teacher's is coming tomorrow. Here's a hint: Yum!

Teacher Appreciation Week

I used to teach 5th Grade, so Teacher Appreciation Week is one of my favorite occasions to stamp!  Teachers work incredibly hard and are some of the most dedicated people I know. This year I decided to give them a small gift for each day of the week.

 Monday they got the "Note of Thanks"  Mini Note Kit along with 4 extra notes that I stamped and embellished with ribbon. That way, if they are totally new to stamping, I have given them a simple example that they can easily re-create with their kit. I made a cute tag and tied it with the beautiful wide stitched chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon.

Tuesday they got an embellished box full of Thank You cards. I used my Clear Sizzix Flower Die and my Big Shot to decorate the box. The sentiment in the center of the flower says: "For all you do, For all you are, For all you mean to me..." I think that sums it up, don't you? Silly me, I forgot to take a picture of the cards. Sorry about that. Here's the box anyway.

 

Wednesday's gift is my favorite. I made this adorable scratch pad holder and coordinating pen. I got the idea from my friend Lisa (Who I met in Hawaii) She got the idea from her friend Connie, who was nice enough to send me the template. That's what happens when you're a SU! Demonstrator, you end up with wonderfully creative and talented friends! Hmmm...does that give you any ideas? *wink, wink* There's a $75 starter Kit special right now. I also made a gift bag. Well, kind of... I really made a monogrammed chipboard bag tag, but couldn't figure out how to "present it," so, I put it on a plain white gift bag and put the scratch pad holder and pen inside. Sort of 2 gifts in one, I guess.

King For A Day

Here's a cute little gift bag for one of the men in your life. It would be great for Father's Day! Just change the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

 

I used the Big Shot "Top Note" Die (my VERY favorite) for the front and back. Here's the side view:

 

I used little paper sacks and trimmed them down to 3" tall. Then I used "Sticky Strip" to adhere the Top Notes. So fun!

I made a similar bag for my friend (and Hostess,) Jess. Hi Jess!! It was a Get Well theme. I included some cough drops, travel tissues, chap stick and tea bags. I even stamped the tissue paper. It came out super cute. These are great for thoughtful little gifts any time of the year.

I'm working on Teacher Appreciation stuff this week. Maybe I'll add this little project!

Hawaii "Share Night"

Stampin' Up! organized a "Share Night" for us during our trip to Hawaii. There were lots of great projects on display. Two talented Demonstrators, BJ Peters and Sandy Poehnelt shared thesegreat seasonal boxes that were created with the Sizzix Big Shot and the Stampin' Up! exclusive Top Note die or the Scallop Circle die.

The Notebook

No, not the novel. (Which was a good book, by the way.) The Notebook. Max's notebook to be exact. He has been asking me to make a covered composition book for him for almost a year! (See I told you that it takes me a LONG time to get to my own personal projects.) Anyway, I finally made one for him. Here it is. This paper is retired now, but I ordered it several months ago, especially for Max's notebook. Turquoise, or "aqua" as Max describes it is his favorite color. I was going to make this for Christmas, but he stumbled upon the composition book today and practically came out of his skin with excitement that it might actually be for him. So, I let Max choose the paper and I made it for him  today. I really wanted to add some Jumbo Eyelets and cording, but he said that was to "girly." So it's a little more plain than I would have made on my own, but he thinks it's perfect!

Here is the original covered composition book he saw. My Upline, Charlene, made this for me last year when we attended a Stampin' Up! Regional Conference together. Her work is amazing and I always love what she makes!

Here's another one that I made when I went to a group meeting in Brandon, that my 3rd level Upline, Lisa hosts. This one is her design and I love it too! It's wonderful to have so many creative people supporting me in my Sampin' Up! business. This would make a nice gift for Valentine's Day, don't you think?

Santa Sweets

 Who can resist these little Santa Sweets? Not me! They are filled with, what else?? Chocolate! I made 10 of them for teachers. They were also my Hostess gifts for my November workshops.   

I just LOVE these adorable spice jars! I got them at IKEA. They are very reasonably priced, at $2.99 for 4. The only bummer is, that IKEA won't ship them. (At least that was the case the last time I checked.) So, you have to go get them, which is a problem if there isn't an IKEA near you. I thought I took a picture from the side angle, but I guess I didn't. I wanted to show how cute they are from that angle. They remind me of an old fashioned candy jar. They sit up, at an angle. I do have to make a couple more, (the kids each want one now) so I'll try to get a better picture for you. I also made a couple of "old standby" favors for a few other people. Here they are.   They are the mini Peppermint Patties. I always have cello bags on hand and with theTop Note die for my Sizzix Big Shot, I have great favors in a snap. Right about now, your probably thinking...These are cute. I sure wish Heather would post this stuff a little EARLIER, so I would actually have time to make something like this. Sorry, girls. My own projects are almost always last minute. I'll try to work on that. LOL! On that same note, I am just getting around to making my Christmas Cards. I still have a couple of days, right? Yikes! However, if you came to my Christmas Card Stamp-A-Stack, then you have been finished since before Thanksgiving! Not bad, ehh? Anyway, here's what I made this year. I kept it very simple. I did emboss the sentiment. With that beautiful wide ribbon, I didn't think it needed anything else. Okay, so here's my month's worth of posts all wrapped up into one. I keep saying I am going to post more often, but apparently I have to do more than just SAY it. LOL! Maybe I'll make that one of my New Year's Resolutions!

Back to School

I know it's been a while since my last post. I'm finally starting to feel like there is a little order around here, now that the kids are back to school. Max is at school all day, but Jack only goes in the morning. I've been trying to get caught up and get organized! I do have most of my projects complete for all of my classes this month, so that's good!

Speaking of projects and "Back to school," here is one of the layouts we will be doing at scrapbooking class on the 22nd. We will be using the new "Big Shot" (I just LOVE that thing!) for the title on the"chalkboard." There are still a few spots open, so let me know if you want come!

Hostess Appreciation Night

My 1st Annual Hostess Appreciation Event was great! I wanted to show my hostesses how much I appreciate them, by having a special event just for them. They played games, won prizes!, had some munchies, made 2 projects and watched 2 demonstrations. When they arrived they found some goodies at their seats. I made everything using the new "Big Shot." I also showed them how the Big Shot works and taught them how to the assemble the adorable baskets.

 Here's what I made for them, using the "Big Shot" and the new "Bella Rose" paper.

They made 2 projects of the projects that I made at Convention. One is a fun bookmark, using our new Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and chipboard. It also features one of the flowers from "Eastern Blooms."

 

The other project was a gift bag, featuring one of the 5 stamp sets I got for free. It's called "Inspired by Nature. You can see some of the new Tangerine Tango "Patterns" Designer Series Paper, here. I also LOVE the So Saffron Poly Twill Ribbon. They learned how the make the "Faux Bow." So fun!

Here she is, here's Brandi. Not just her nose :o) and Jess. Silly, Jess says she would have dressed for the occasion if she knew there would be a "Photo Op" for my blog! Oh, and there's a little bit of Laurie. I have more of you, coming up. Just scroll down. By the way, do you see Sherri's hand there on the right, holding the scissors? This was the FIRST time I let ANYONE use my FAVORITE "Craft and Paper Scissors." They are the BEST for cutting ribbon. I did practically threaten their lives if the cut ANYTHING besides ribbon! Kari had a close call and asked me to "Please take them away" before she made a "mistake." Luckily, everything went fine and no one got hurt, LOL!!

Here we have Kari (again) Laurie and Diana. Diana taught Laurie how to Heat Emboss earlier that day! Hey, she'd make a great Demonstrator, don't ya think!?

Moving on to the other table, we have Kimberly. Check out her beautiful beaded jewelry. Her 4 1/2 year old son made it for her. How sweet!

Finally we have Nicolle, Becky and Sandi, completely immersed in their work. I had another picture of Nicolle, not just the side of her head, but it was too dark. Sorry, Nicolle.   

I hope they had a great time. I know I had fun. This was my best year yet  with Stampin' Up! I made a lot of new friends and I earned the incentive trip to HAWAII!! I couldn't have done it with out them! Thanks SO much!
