Right about now, you're probably thinking, "What? ! This girl has lost her mind!"
Well, it's true. (Not the losing my mind part. LOL!) In case you didn't know, it's very common for Q & U to get married in Kindergarten classes all over the United States! It's no exception here in sunny, South Florida. It only makes sense, since Q never goes anywhere without U. So, I offered to make a cake to celebrate the big day! Now you may be asking yourself, "How does making a cake have anything to do with stamping?" The answer: Everything, when it's a paper cake!! A few months ago there was a beautiful paper cake featured in Stampin' Success Magazine. Stampin' Success is one of the perks of being a SU! Demonstrator. It comes right to my mailbox every month, packed with pictures and ideas for cards, scrapbook layouts, projects and more! Those of you who know me well, know that I am always looking for a reason (as if I really need one) to stamp! I thought the union of Q & U would be the perfect occasion for a paper cake! Now, what's fun about this cake is that it's made up of 33 individual "slices." Each slice is packed with fun party favors! There are enough so every guest can take a slice home after the wedding. I try not to think about the fact that the "guests" are a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds, who will rip right into their slice without giving it a second thought, or even thinking for a second that it probably was a lot of work to make that cake. Oh, well. My little guy does actually appreciate all of the fun things that I make, so it's worth it. I was originally thinking that I would make the cake kind of, traditional. You know, soft muted colors, flowers, etc. Then I asked myself, "what kind of cake would Q & U want?" Hmmm, bright colors probably, like the ones in the classroom! " And how would they like it decorated? With all of their friends names, of course! A, B, C.... you get the idea. The pencil on the topper serves as "Cupid's arrow." Nice touch, huh? I thought of that at the last minute. Supplies and stamp sets used: "Nursery Letters" jumbo wheel, Headline Alphabet (retired) Best Friends (upper) Alphabet and Elementary Essentials. The cake template came from SU! (Let me know if you want it. I'll email it to you.) Circle and scallop punches, SNAIL adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, versamark, heat & stick powder, fine cosmo glitter (for the topper). The colors are Real Red, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore. Non- SU! items include: bamboo skewer, curling ribbon and goodies for the inside. Hope you enjoy this cake. I smile every time I walk by it. It was actually pretty easy, just time consuming, but worth it! Wouldn't it be fun to make a cake like this for a birthday party or baby shower? You can do it!! The possibilities are endless.
